iOS Tips

It has been awhile since we've written an article with tips and tricks on mobile devices. Here are a few tips and tricks that you might not know for iOS (iPhones and iPads). Some of these tips may only be available with the later versions of the operating system.

  • Stay focused on the road - "Do Not Disturb while driving" keeps notifications and texts from interrupting you when you might be driving, If this is turned on it will send a customized response to people you choose. You can access this by going to Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  • Quickly call for emergency help - Press and hold the side button (iPhone 8, 8+ or X) and either of the two volume buttons to quickly call for help. When you initiate Emergency SOS, your phone also sends a message to the emergency contacts you entered in the Health app in your Medical ID.
  • Pay friends with a message - You can send money using Apply Pay right in Messages. When in a conversation, simply tap an amount, and then tap Pay.
  • Mark up a screenshot - After you take a screenshot, tap on the thumbnail of the image. You can then start drawing, or tap the icon with a plus sign to add text, a magnifier, and more. You can then easily share the screenshot by tapping the Share icon.
  • Share your location with QuickType - In Messages you can tell someone where you are without having to type in the address. Simply type "I'm at", a space, and then tap Current Location.
