Unlike iOS, the Android operating system covers a huge selection of smartphones and tablets. Luckily, downloading an app on any Android device is going to work the same and it's easy to do. We'll walk through the process of downloading an app to an Android smarphone or tablet below. To download an app to your Android device, you will open the Google Play Store on your device. The Play Store comes standard on all Android devices. When you first open the Play Store, you will see some featured apps from Android. These can include recommended apps or some of the most popular apps at the moment. These are great to look through because you will soon learn that there is an app for everything and there may be one out there that can help you in your life or work. If there is a specific app you are looking for, tap on the Search button that appears at the top of the screen. The search button will be a small magnifying glass. This will bring up a search bar where you can type the name of the app you are looking for. Once you find the app, tap on it. Here you can read an overview of the app from the app creator. You can also read reviews, leave reviews, and check out some screenshots of the app. To download the app, you'll tap on the box that says 'Install'. If that app costs money, you'll see the price in this box instead of the word 'Install'. At this point you may be prompted to allow certain permissions to the app. Once you accept, your app will start to install and you should notice a progress bar. Once finished, a box will appear that says 'Open' and you should also have an icon on your main screen for the app. You are now ready to being using your new app.
