Apple announced iOS 13 on June 3rd and the public beta was made available on June 24th. It is expected to be officially released mid-September. iOS 13 includes many improvements and lots of new features.

Below is a look at some of what’s new:

  • Dark Mode – The new Dark Mode makes your screen look better in low-light environments.
  • Improved Photos – The Photos app has a brand new look and there are more options for editing your photos. There are also significantly more options for editing videos.
  • Sign In with Apple – There is a new option to sign in to apps/websites using your Apple ID. With this option you can choose to provide your real email address or have Apple create a unique one-time use email address that forwards to your real email.
  • Better Location Privacy Options – You have more control over how apps access your location data.
  • Improved Performance – Apple focused on improving performance. This includes apps launching up to twice as fast, apps being smaller (and faster) when downloading and Face ID unlocking faster.
  • Optimized Battery Charging – This new option is designed to slow down the rate that your battery wears out. This helps with the long-term health of the battery.
  • Silence Unknown Callers – When this option is turned on, calls that come in from unknown numbers will be silenced.
  • QuickPath – If you like being able to slide your finger across the keyboard to type vs tapping then you now have the ability to do this on your iOS device without having to download a third party app.
  • And more – There are many more improvements to the operating system including updates to built-in apps like Maps, Reminders, Messages and FaceTime.
