Mobile Hardware Recommendations

Date Written: 07/24/14

A lot of Palm-Tech users use the app every day to conduct their home inspections. These inspectors are using the app on a number of smartphones and tablets, both iOS and Android. Hardware changes constantly and is always being improved, but we want to share some recommendations in regards to mobile hardware. These recommendations come from internal testing and feedback from our users.

iOS
It’s no surprise that the two newest models of the iPhone and iPad run the app the best. The iPhone 5S and the iPad Air both offer a responsiveness screen, great battery life, and are lightweight. Because they’re both Apple products, they also come with an abundance of helpful accessories including the all-important cases.

Android Phone
We have two recommendations for an Android phone and you can’t go wrong with either. The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Samsung Galaxy S5 are both great devices that run the app well. They are fast, offer quality battery life, and large screens that help you see more of the screen. The Galaxy Note 3 is the latest model, but we’ve heard good things about previous models as well. The Note 3 comes with a larger screen and stylus, while the S5 comes with better battery life and a faster processor.

Android Tablet
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is a great device that is a perfect size. At 8” it’s not too big or too small and is comfortable to carry around. The stylus is a nice feature for this tablet and it also comes with good battery life and powerful internal specs.
One of the great things about smartphones and tablets is that there are a number of devices to choose from, allowing you to find the one that fits you best. If you are using a device that you enjoy and it’s not on this list, tell us about it. If you are in the market for a smartphone or tablet, be sure to get hands on with a couple of devices to see which one is going to work best for you. Keep in mind you’ll be using it in the field for your home inspections.
