On June 5, 2017 Apple had their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC17) and they announced the next major upgrade to iOS which is iOS 11. It is now available for developers to begin testing with and is slated to be released in the fall. There are lots of new features with it and here is a list of some of what is new:

  • On the iPad you can now drag and drop text, photos, hyperlinks and files when in split screen mode.
  • The new Files app lets you see the files on your device. It also allows you to access files from other services such as Box, Dropbox and Google Drive.
  • The App Store has been redesigned to make it 'designed for discovery' to make it easier for users to discover new helpful and fun apps.
  • Apple Pay has been improved to allow for person-to-person payments within iMessage.
  • Siri has been improved to sound more natural, offer better suggestions and can perform translations from English to Chinese, German, Italian or Spanish.
  • Control Center has been redesigned and allows for user customization.
  • The Maps app now has lane guidance and speed limits. There is also a new 'Do Not Disturb While Driving' mode where the device can detect when you may be driving and automatically silence incoming alerts.
  • Improved Notes app includes the ability to scan documents and have them saved to your camera roll.
  • Improved camera and much more!
