Benefits of Using Palm-Tech

Benefits of Using the Palm-Tech App on a Smartphone or Tablet

Date Written: December 2011

With the new Palm-Tech App, you are now able to use Palm-Tech Home Inspection Software on your iOS and Android smartphone or tablet. This means that you can use the app on the iPhone, iPad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Droid Razr, as well as, many other devices. These devices are the latest in mobile technology and offer some great benefits to those who use them in the field.

Below is a list of some of the benefits of using these devices to conduct your home inspection:

  • Variety of Options - Since the app runs on iOS and Android devices, you now have a huge selection of devices to choose from. In fact, you may already have a device that you can use with the app. For those of you who do not have a device yet, figure out what is important to you first before making a decision. Are you interested in something that is small and can fit in your pocket, or are you looking for something bigger, that has a large screen? Besides the size of the device, you should consider the operating system, camera, battery life, cost, and any other features you may be looking for. Since the app can run on so many of these great devices, you can truly get the device that is going to work best for you and your inspection needs.
  • Convenience - One of the key features of both smartphones and tablets is convenience. If you decide to use the app on your phone, then you won't have to worry about carrying another device because you will always have your phone on you. You need to climb a ladder to get to the roof? No problem, just slide the phone in your pocket and go. Although not as small as a phone, tablets are very portable devices as well and are much lighter than a laptop. Both smartphones and tablets are extremely portable and lightweight, which will be a huge benefit while you're on-site.
  • Ease of Use - Palm-Tech is known for being incredibly easy to use and believe it or not, using the new app is even easier. Palm-Tech takes advantage of the functionality of these great devices, giving you the ability to easily complete your inspection report. You are now able to enter data with the tap of a finger. When you are ready to move on to your next category, just swipe your finger across the screen. You can even use your device's talk-to-text feature to add a long note by simply speaking into the device. When you are finished with the inspection, a single tap uploads it to your new Palm-Tech cloud.
  • Cloud Drive - The new Palm-Tech app comes with a new Cloud Drive that you will use to transfer inspections and other Palm-Tech files back and forth. The Cloud Drive is online storage where you can store inspections, libraries, and even backup files. When you are finished with your inspection in the field, tap 'Upload' and the inspection is automatically uploaded to your Palm-Tech Cloud Drive. You can then access the Cloud Drive from any computer that has Palm-Tech installed on it to download the file and email it off to the client. No longer do you have to worry about wires and cables when attempting to sync your inspections to your desktop.
  • Built-in Camera - The majority of smartphones and tablets now come with built-in cameras and the new app takes advantage of these. Many newer smartphones are even coming with 8 MP cameras now. Using these built-in cameras, you are now able to complete your whole inspection, with pictures, in the field on a single device. Of course it will be up to you to decide if your device's camera will work for you and we also recommend having a backup camera just in case.
  • Battery - Many smartphones and tablets have exceptional battery life, especially when compared with most laptops and netbooks. Smartphones typically can last at least a whole day with moderate use, while some tablets can last days with moderate use and even weeks with light use. Of course the battery life will vary depending on the device, so you will want to do a little research before purchasing.
