The LG G6 was announced the end of February and was released in March. This is the latest phone in LG's flagship phone line and early reviews have been positive. The phone is definitely an improvement over last year's G5 model, but the real question is whether or not the phone is good enough to compete with the premium Android phones like the Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel.

The G6 is the only phone other than the Google Pixel phones to have the 'Google Assistant' natively. Google Assistant has deep integrations with quite a few Android apps which in some cases can make it more useful than other digital assistants (like Bixby which comes on the Galaxy S8). The phone is waterproof, but it no longer has a removable battery which makes sense as a necessary tradeoff to become waterproof like many of its competitors. Removable batteries have been an important mark of LG phones for awhile so losing this feature will frustrate some long time LG phone users. The phone includes dual-rear cameras and the screen has an 18:9 display which is different than the 16:9 display on most phones. It will be interesting to see what the advantages the 18:9 display offers its users considering most video formats are 16:9 and most apps are written for a 16:9 display.

Overall this appears to be a very solid Android phone and a good option for those are like LG devices.
