In our last article we took a look at some tips and tricks for the iPhone. Here are a few for Android devices.

NOTE: Not all these will be available on every Android device. Some require being on the latest version of the operating system which is 7.0, Nougat.

  • Smart Lock - This makes it so that you don't have to enter your PIN/Pattern/Password to unlock your device in certain situations. For example, you can set it so that when you're home you won't have to enter anything to unlock your phone. To set this up open Settings and go to Personal. Next go to Advanced and tap on Trust Agents to turn 'Smart Lock' on. You can then adjust the settings for it under 'Device Security'.
  • Add Widgets to Lock Screen - You can easily add widgets to your device's lock screen. To do this, bring up your device's lock screen and then swipe left or right. You'll see a + option that you can tap on. Tap on this and a list of widgets will be displayed that you can choose to add.
  • Do Not Disturb Rules - You can create a rule that sets it so that once your device's alarm goes off the device automatically switches out of 'Do Not Disturb' mode. This is a great option for anyone who uses their device as an alarm clock and sometimes forgets to take it out of 'Do Not Disturb' mode.
  • Silence Notifications - You can choose to make an app's notifications come in silently instead of making noise. This can help keep you from getting distracted when notifications that aren't important pop up. This is done by pressing and holding on a notification that comes in and choosing the setting you'd like.
  • Data Saver - This lets you choose what apps have access to data when the screen is off. This can help you conserve both battery life and your data. This is accessed by going to Settings -> Data Usage -> Data Saver.
