HTC U12 Plus

HTC U12 Plus

The HTC U12 Plus is the latest phone from HTC's flagship phone line. It was announced on May 23rd and was available in June. It runs the Android 8.0 operating system and has a great camera and high end specs which lead to a fast and responsive device.

HTC has done a few things that make this phone standout from other phones, but so far many reviews are coming in stating that the changes aren't all positive. First, the phone is buttonless, which means there are no buttons for power on/off or volume up/down. There are immobile 'buttons' on the side for these items that react to your pressure touch and vibrate, but many think that this feels unnatural and that it takes longer to complete a simple task like changing the volume. Of course, we're all used to having buttons on a phone act a certain way so it's possible in time people will get used to it. The U12 Plus also gives you the ability to perform actions such as launching an app, taking a picture, etc, by either simply squeezing the phone or by doing a long/short press on one of the pressure sensitive sides.

The biggest complaint so far about the phone has been the battery life. In tests, it has not performed as well as top of the line phones such as the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Overall, this appears to be a solid device, but there may be better options available. If you love HTC phones then you'll most likely love this one. Also, if you like to use devices that do things differently then you may appreciate what HTC is doing here.
