On March 6, 2020, Samsung released the latest phones in the Galaxy S series. There are three phones in the series which are the S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra. They jumped in their numbering straight from the S10 last year, to the S20 this year. The Galaxy S series is a high-end phone series and these phones include the specs you would expect from high-end devices, as well as, a higher price tag. The starting price for the S20 is $999 USD.
These phones come with 5G capability which is significantly faster than 4G, but 5G isn’t available everywhere so if it’s not in your area you won’t be able to take advantage of it. The cameras have been upgraded and it includes the ability to capture video at 8K. For most people recording at 8K won’t make that much of a difference since it is still in the early stages of adoption/usage and very few televisions/monitors can play 8K at this point. However, it is ahead of the curve when compared to phones that don’t do this.
The phone has a great display and upgraded internal hardware makes for a fast device. Reports on battery life have been positive so far with many people pleasantly surprised at how long the battery is lasting between charges. One big change is that the headphone jack has been removed like it has been on many other phones.
If you’re looking to buy a new phone, love Android, and don’t mind paying a premium price, then the S20 series is one to consider.
